Transport in general has negative impact on environment. The idea of increasing cycling within the Öresund is necessary at the same time as the potential of doing so is high. This, combined with the lack of coordinated facts, maps and concepts to promote cycling, creates a need for knowledge transfer and planning authorities across the region.
The project consits of three parts:
1) Cross border joint actions applicable for bench marking, coordinated facts and maps, improved tools for information for cyclists (webb based maps, navigation systems, and the promoting of roads that are well signed-posted).
2) Networking and cooperation for project partners, with enlarged network and cooperation with tourism organizations, research & development, trade etc.
3) Knowledge transfer and development of concepts for reaching additional users, increase knowledge of cycling. These concepts will be developed together based on previous experiences in the Öresund region, and relevant.
The project “Öresund som cykelregion” is a collaboration project between Swedish and Danish, mainly regional and local authorities, within the Öresund region. Region Skåne is the project Lead Partner. The partners are responsible for ensuring that the result of the project is used and incorporated in future regional initiatives. The project duration is 3 years.
