The project builds upon an "Øresund-model" of education for children, which is based on a local form of practice from Geijerskolen (in use since 2007) for children in grades 0-3.
This model of education, which provides children with double competences in Swedish and Danish culture and language, should be developed towards an intercultural form of education on a regional level. The model can contribute to creating new, integrated forms of education across Øresund that inform the youngest pupils about language, culture and education in the region.
To ensure that a locally developed Øresund-model can be adapted regionally, the project will further develop and ensure the quality of the model of education and adjust it to function in a border-regional context to be adapted broadly by the schools in the region. This pre-stage project lays the foundation for a project to implement the model in collaboration with regional schools.
The aim of this pre-stage project is to:
- Flesh out studies and methods for the coming project.
- Identify relevant schools in the Copenhagen area.
The ambition of the project is to create a cross-border model of education, building upon Danish, as well as Swedish, traditions and culture of education. This model aims to teach children double competences in relation to language and culture.
