The Øresund Region have a large number of firms producing high quality food, but they find it difficult to attract customers / visitors to their own part of the region. Parts of Region Skåne and Region Zealand located outside metropolitan areas in the Øresund Region (East Skåne, West Zealand, Lolland Falster) are not always viewed as belonging to the Øresund Region. Outside the two cities, Copenhagen and Malmö there are a number of rural areas with small towns, farming and large natural areas. In these areas there is a great potential of innovators who could develop ideas to attract visitors to the Øresund Region.
By encouraging the development of regional and local foodproducts to sustain the small local communities in the countryside and at the same time save the environment a long transport. A large proportion of locally produced food products are made with low-impact methods often based on organic products.
Our common history and neighborhood can be interlinked much more with local events, which happen on both sides of Øresund. The goal is to increase everyday integration by developing the value chain based on networks through workshops, study tours, developing of skills and visibility through joint marketing. The project will facilitate cross-border liaison between businesses, educational institutions and tourism bodies in both regions.
To ensure the food chain for future entrepreneurs of regional food, there must also be training for students participating in vocationel school system to incorporate skills that can prepare young people to the event market. Students together with food manufacturers implement events in collaboration with various cultural and tourism organizations. Students will through this training learn about local products, food, culture, history and nature in Region Sjælland and Region Skåne and at the same time build skills in event planning.
In order to provide practical solutions for common labour in the two Regions, the project will work for common education and the recognition of competency in training for professionals.
